At the Turkish Family Health and Planning Foundation (TAP Foundation), we believe that giving is a voluntary act and that generosity and sharing enhance our quality of life. Because we value the trust and respect that civil society organizations and their projects must earn from the public—and because we care deeply about ensuring donors and potential donors can give safely and wisely—we fully endorse and support the principles outlined in the Donor Bill of Rights. We recognize that every donor has the following rights:
- To be informed of the organization’s mission and vision, how donations will be used, and the organization’s capacity and intent to use gifts effectively for their intended purposes.
- To have access to information about the organization’s board of directors and executive leadership, and to expect those in leadership to act with prudence and integrity.
- To access up-to-date financial information.
- To receive assurance that donations will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
- To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.
- To request that their donation be kept confidential in accordance with legal standards.
- To expect all relationships with individuals representing the organization to be conducted in a professional manner.
- To be informed whether the person soliciting the donation is a volunteer, an employee of the organization, or a hired fundraiser.
- To have their contact information removed from mailing lists if it is to be shared with other parties.
- To ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful, and clear answers.
