Since 2010, our Foundation has been conducting women’s health education programs through institutional collaborations. In this context, two of our partner organizations in Eskişehir—the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality (EBB) and the Refugee Support Association (MUDEM)—redefined their fieldwork as part of a joint partnership and, with the support of the French Embassy, implemented a project targeting women living in rural areas. We congratulate our partners not only for integrating this empowerment-focused education program into their own work but also for taking it a step further by co-designing and successfully implementing a joint project, setting a strong example of sustainability.

On May 16, 2024, we participated in the closing meeting of the project titled
“Enhancing the Sexual and Reproductive Health of Turkish and Refugee Women Living in Eskişehir Through Education,”
implemented in partnership with EBB and MUDEM. The initiative, which began in 2021, lasted for 28 months in three phases. A total of 644 participants399 women and 113 men—attended 90 sessions, each lasting 90 minutes. Half of the participants were Turkish citizens, while the other half were refugees, predominantly of Afghan origin. The sessions covered topics such as Knowing Our Bodies, Women’s Health Issues, Fertility Regulation, Hygiene, and Gender. These sessions were delivered by TAP Foundation’s Women’s Health Education Program trainers Ali Öğüncer (MUDEM) and Sibel Türkmen (EBB).

In collaboration with the Hacettepe University Department of Public Health Nursing, the project also produced a report titled
“The Impact of Health Education on the Sexual and Reproductive Health of Refugee and Agricultural Worker Turkish Women.”
In addition, three international publications were prepared, evaluating the indicators of refugee women’s reproductive health through a cultural lens.
