Between March 2024 and January 2025, we carried out our fieldwork in more than 50 container settlements, neighborhoods, and villages in Samandağ, Antakya, and Defne with a dedicated field team consisting of 8 health ambassadors, 2 team leaders, and 1 reproductive health consultant.

Our field team:

  • Provided information, counseling, and training to 8,479 women on women’s health issues, fertility regulation, and body awareness from a preventive healthcare perspective grounded in gender equality.
  • Empowered 914 pregnant women, postpartum women, and breastfeeding mothers with individual counseling and information sessions, along with 7 support groups for pregnant and postpartum women, promoting safe motherhood messages.
  • Supported women’s access to services by referring them to Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening, and Education Centers (KETEM), Family Health Centers (ASM), and hospitals based on their individual needs.
  • Informed over 3,000 women about fertility regulation and facilitated access for over 1,300 women to condoms, birth control pills, intrauterine devices (IUDs), monthly and three-month injectable contraceptives, and emergency contraception.
