TAP Foundation and Empowerment of women and girls in earthquake-affected regions with SRH Project
Founded in 1985 under the leadership of Vehbi Koç, our foundation works with local governments, NGOs, public institutions, universities, schools, women, youth, adolescents, and children, based on a protective and preventive health perspective and gender equality, aiming to strengthen society through empowered women, a society empowered with health knowledge at every age, and pursue equality goals in all areas for sustainable development.
The Women Empowerment Program aims to strengthen women in the social sphere by promoting protective behaviors for women’s health, general health, and family health, as well as raising awareness on gender equality, effective communication, gender-based discrimination and violence, and rights. Within this program, the ” Empowerment of Women and Girls in Earthquake-Affected Regions with SRH Project” aims to strengthen the access of women affected by the earthquake in Hatay to sexual and reproductive health rights and services.
Since March, we have:
- Provided informational, counseling, and training on women’s health issues, fertility regulation, and body awareness to more than 9,000 women, based on a preventive health approach with a gender equality perspective, and have made referrals based on their needs.
- Empowered more than 900 pregnant women, postpartum women, and breastfeeding mothers with safe motherhood messages by giving counseling, information, and pregnancy-postpartum support groups. We ensured that pregnant and postpartum women who could not access health follow-ups were able to access healthcare services.
- Supported women’s access to services by referring them to Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening, and Education Centers (KETEM), Family Health Centers (FSM), and hospitals, based on their needs.
- Provided fertility regulation information to more than 3,000 women and supported over 1,000 women in accessing contraception methods.
